I am happy to announce the winners of Brentwood School’s 2nd Annual Creative Writing Competition!
Winner:
Hark! by Shelby K. (Class of 2014)
And 2 Runners-Up:
The Archway by Jesse B. (Class of 2012)
Like an Eagle by Shea R. (Class of 2012)
The stories were excellent, and the four judges (Ms. Abarbanel, Mr. Lopez, Ms. O’ Hanlon, and Mr. Novom) enjoyed reading all of them. The theme of flight was used in many ways: playful, serious, literal, and metaphorical. The stories represented a variety of genres, including historical fiction, suspense, fantasy, and realistic. If you would like to read the winning stories, please ask for them at the Library.
If any of the writers who entered the contest would like feedback, please see one of the judges. Thank you so much for participating in the contest!
The winners will receive gift certificates from the Library on Monday (or in the case of the seniors, the next time you are on campus), and Hark! will be published in an issue of amaranth next school year.
